Bardot makes her point
Keep them coming, ladies and gentlemen... if McCain is going to get back into the game in time for November, the Republican camp will need more contributions from Europeans.
This time, French icon Brigitte Bardot did the honours. In an open letter published this week, Mme Bardot described Sarah Palin as "a disgrace to women" and "disconcertingly stupid."
“I hope you lose these elections because that would be a victory for the world,” the former actress wrote. “By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe."
Bardot also took exception to Palin's description of herself as a "pitbull in lipstick", claiming that no dog was as dangerous as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate.
She also attacked Palin for supporting drilling exploration in the Arctic, something Bardot believes threatens the ecosystem of the region.
In her day, Bardot was one of the most beautiful women in the world, embodying the sexy, carefree Riviera life in the 1950s and 60s. Today, she's better-known for her hardline anti-immigrant views.
"She has been convicted five times for inciting racial hatred and her husband, Bernard d'Ormal, is a former adviser to the far-right National Front", the Times reports. Much of her fury has been directed towards Muslim immigrants and their practice of halal butchery (Bardot runs an animal rights foundation). However, her pronouncements are sufficiently vague to suggest that it isn't only Islamic slaughter of animals which upsets her.
