As any intelligent person knows, red wine is good for your health. It makes no difference if it is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir or Sangiovese.

The new good news is that drinking red wine helps those - who are partial to eating red meat - is a serious aid to digestion. Basically the tummy likes the combination.

Recent research by dedicated scientists has informed the hapless (in an era of neo-prohibition) in the 'Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry' , that munching red meat, such as beef, will be a good mix. In the stomach the wine will thwart the formation of harmful chemicals when the meat is digested.

Red wine (not white wine or rose) is rich in 'polyphenols', a group of powerful antioxidants that are considered to protect against cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

Therefore, the next time you are at your favourite restaurant, order an entrecote and ask the sommelier to bring also a bottle of Chateau Latour.
