The Ballad Of Paul And Heather
What can we say about the new celebrity Heather Mills? Is she a gold-digger and a whore ? Or the victim of a tortured childhood and a dutiful mother ?
The real victim is Sir Paul McCartney, a loyal (and perhaps naive) iconic song-writer and singer.
The story is like a Mills & Boon bestseller except that the ending has not been so happy. It has been one of the most celebrated divorce cases in recent times.
One thing that triggered the acrimonious proceedings was a series of published photographs from a German 'Education Manual, deemed pornographic, where Ms Mills was naked. A British newspaper also accused her of being (allegedly) a "£5,000 hooker".
London's High Court has ordered Sir Paul McCartney, in a landmark divorce settlement, to pay his estranged wife £24.3 million ($48.7 million).
In a 58-page ruling by Judge Hugh Bennett, released, despite Heather Mills' request that it should be sealed, the judge notes that the former model is "out of control" and lives in a world of "make-believe".
The judge praised Paul for expressing himself "moderately, although at times with justifiable irritation if not anger. He was consistent, accurate and honest. I can't say the same about the wife".
Let it be.
