Don't worry about artificial 'sweeteners' such as saccharin or aspartame if you are immune to cancer.

Because the problem is that, after decades of extensive research, these chemical products have become to be considered no good and the cause of bladder cancer among many other ailments.

Canada's department of health was among the first in the world to recognise the problem with saccharin in the late 1970s. It is now forbidden in the country and increasingly in many other countries.

The famous drink 'Diet Coke', sometimes referred to as 'Coca-Cola Light', includes saccharin when allowed by health authorities for the local beverage manufacturers. (Saccharin is officially C6H4COSO2NH).

A study published in the medical journal 'Behavioral Neuroscience' of Purdue University in Indiana USA suggests that a 'sweetener' actually makes you more fat. Exactly contrary to received wisdom.

In Britain, many people beieve that what is said to be a 'low-fat' diet is best. This generally includes 'Special K' cereal for breakfast and 'low-fat' milk shakes and 'Weight Watchers Taste Temptation Lemon Cheesecake'. Each item will make you gain weight according to research by King's College London and nutritional specialists at Newcastle University.

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch. Why was this 1965 song, recorded by The Four Tops, a hit ? Because almost everyone likes something sweet. Such as sugar.

Lyrics: 'You know that I love you. I can't help myself. I love you and nobody else'.
