Across The Universe

NASA has sent The Beatles into deep space. Of course, the song is 'Across the Universe', composed and sung by John Lennon.

The "broadcast", the first of its type in history, has been transmitted from a NASA "communications complex" in Goldstone California.

The transmission has been aimed at the North Star (Polaris) which is located 431 light years away from Earth. The tune will travel across the universe at a speed of 186,000 miles per second.

Sir Paul McCartney has forwarded a message to NASA: "Send my love to the aliens". Yoko Ono has also sent her congratulations to Mission Control.

The version given to the stars will be the original, produced by Phil Spector for the 'Let It Be' album. Not the second re-produced version by George Martin.

I'm sure that John Winston Lennon (who this correspondent has met in his kitchen at The Dakota building in New York) would be pleased. He is now with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. (Not so far from the North Star).

John's voice will echo for a long time. Karmic and cosmic.
