France's President Nicolas Sarkozy, as reported by French newspaper Le Canard Enchaîné in The Daily Telegraph.
Sarkozy was commenting on press discussion of his romance with supermodel-singer-songwriter Carla Bruni. La Bruni accompanied the President on his Christmas holiday to Egypt. France and foreign media clamoured for photographs of the couple, while commentators noted breathlessly that Sarko's consort was wearing the President's own monogrammed white shirt on one outing.
Oddly enough, it's Sarkozy who has been more of a style icon on the trip: Paris shops have sold out of the Polo-logo Ralph Lauren shirts the President has been sporting on his vacances, just as there was a surge in sales of Italian Boglioli jackets when it was revealed that Sarkozy was a fan.
