The President And The Supermodel?
Is President Nicolas Sarkozy really dating supermodel-turned-singer/songwriter Carla Bruni, formerly Mick Jagger's squeeze?
Got to hand it to the man if he is.
Apparently the two were spotted at Disneyland Paris together (how romantic). Liberation is calling their relationship a "Disney fairytale" while Figaro has stuck la Bruni's mug on its front page with the headline "the President's girlfriend."
At 39, Bruni is 13 years younger than the President. At just over 5ft 9, she's three inches taller than Sarkozy. She's also an A+++ hottie, and if Sarko wanted to prove to France and his ex-missus Cécilia that he's back in the game, he couldn't have done it in more spectacular style.
AP says that la Bruni has confirmed their relationship: the President's office is rather more coy, as one might expect. The Elysée Palace isn't in the habit of running commentaries on the love lives of its inhabitants, and French newspapers have traditionally remained tight-lipped about their Presidents' peccadillos. Jacques Chirac, while happily married to the formidable Bernadette, earned a reputation as something of a swordsman: His conquests, however, nicknamed him "Mr Three Minutes (including shower)". Former socialist President François Mitterand became so obsessed with model/actress Carole Bouquet that he ordered the security forces to bug her phone.
No such subterfuge for Sarkozy, though. This man simply can't stay out of the papers.
