End Of The Road For "Jaws"
The world's hungriest man is suffering from a bout of "arthritic jaw". His name is Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi. He is, of course, from Japan.
In his life as a professional eater he has downed 58 bratwurt in 10 minutes and 97 hamburgers (with buns) in eight minutes.
This man, only 29, surely knows the art of "speed eating".
Mr Kobayashi's hotdog munching prowess is attributed to a natural ability to push his stomach below the ribcage to accomodate more food.
To see it in action might make you want to empty your own stomach.
In his time of fame, he has been champion of the American "United Food Fighters".
In an official statement he says he will defend his title at the "Nathan's Famous July Fourth
International Hot Dog Eating Contest" in New York, later this month.
But it may be his last great performance. He explains: "My jaw has given up the fight".
