Damian Thompson's blog in the Telegraph is rapidly becoming one of the mainstream media's best commentary on religious, cultural and conservative issues.
Today's is no exception.
Thompson - who is editor in chief of the Catholic Herald - says he'd like to see an "anatomy of the British left" - "the bien pensant liberal eite" which is "the most powerful social force in Britain today."
"It would be relatively easy to map out the connections between the BBC, the Guardian, the Arts Council, Demos, the Commission for Racial Equality, the Institute for Public Policy Research, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference and the private offices of Labour politicians. But no one, to my knowledge, has done it properly."
Of course, the right has networks too, or used to: What was once called "the Establishment". Thompson's hunch that Conservative leader David Cameron is trying to slot his party's leadership into the ruling liberal-left elite rather than create a right-wing version of his own is correct. One should never allow one's enemies to dictate your policy.
