British troops injured in Afghanistan attack

Reports are coming in that at least two children have been killed and several injured in a suicide attack in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Afghanistan's Helmand province.

Two British soldiers have been injured, though the Ministry of Defence denies any reports of UK deaths. Other civilians are said to be among the wounded.

The suicide bomber reportedly "threw himself" at a group of soldiers, killing a boy and a girl, both under eight years old. Seven Afghan civilians were wounded in the attack.

Earlier reports suggested that an aid agency vehicle was the target of the suicide bombing, and that NATO troops were among the dead.
